周平王（约公元前781—前720年）东周第一代王，姬姓，名宜臼，或作宜咎。周幽王子，申后所生。本立为太子，后幽王宠褒姒，废申后和太子，改立褒姒子伯服为嗣。宜臼逃奔申，申侯联合缯侯和西方的犬戎攻破镐京，幽王被杀，西周灭亡。公元前770年被申、鲁、许等国在申拥立为王。
