When Cassidy's third "Kings of Coyote Creek" novel (after Revenge on the Ranch) begins, Ashley King's father has been recently murdered while standing in his driveway in Coyote Creek, KS; there are still no solid leads on a suspect. Jacob Black, Ashley's childhood crush, has returned to town as the newest detective on the police force and is determined to solve the murder. Ashley resolves to help, but it seems as though someone is now targeting her. While still believable, Ashley and Jacob's relationship is a bit bland in this new series installment and could use more chemistry. VERDICT Buy only where the series already has devoted readers.--Mary Frances Cely
