Andrew Lang's classic Blue Fairy Book (1889), the first of his Fairy Tale series, contains 37 lovely tales ranging from the well-known "Cinderella" and "Little Red Riding Hood" to lesser know yet equally delightful stories such as "Why the Sea is Salt" and "East of the Sun and West of the Moon." The book assembles a wide range of tales, with seven from the Brothers Grimm, five from Madame d'Aulnoy, three from the Arabian Nights, and four Norse stories.
